COMMERCIAL USE - SPACE HEATING

Just as in domestic heating systems, solar energy can be used for large scale space heating of factories, offices etc. Any company operating in medium or large area sites will tell you that heating costs are an important factor in their overheads, and with global demand for conventional fuel increasing, heating costs are set to continue rising. Solar energy cannot normally provide a 100% solution to substitute a conventional heating system, but by providing pre-heated water to the boiler, up to a 50% saving can be made in heating costs.

As with domestic applications, the dimensioning of solar heating systems tends to lead to an excess of heat generation in the summer months if there is no use made of the heat generated: Such systems can be combined with industrial chillers to provide air conditioning or industrial cooling for cold storage, etc.
