INDUSTRIAL USE - HEAT FOR INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES

Many industrial processes require significant amounts of heat energy such as washing, drying, cooking, etc. While solar energy is normally limited to low temperature heating (up to 90º), by combining solar heat with conventional heat sources such as a gas or oil fired boiler, significant savings can be made in energy costs even when high temperatures are required.

Vacuum tube type collectors offer very high thermal efficiencies and the possibility of achieving higher temperatures than conventional flat panels. While up until now their price has made them difficult to justify over their flat alternative, mass production in China of these collectors is driving prices down, making this type of collector ideal for industrial processes and at the same time widening the scope of applications to include higher temperature processes.
